Bukit Bitang Monorail station |
Nestled in the south sector of the Golden Triangle, the most bustling part
of Kuala Lumpur. Bukit Bintang is within the
CBD area having most high rise office buildings and 5 star hotels. Bukit
Bintang is the shopping paradise for most tourists and also local, you can find
a lot of retail outlet along the prominent retail belt, ranging from a simple
retail shop to the popular upscale shopping mall like Pavilion, Starhill, Lot
10 and BerjayaTime Square.
Starhill |
For tourists,
besides the upscale shopping mall, I would like to suggest the Sungei Wang
Plaza which is right at the doorstep of the
Bukit Bintang Monorail Station. Sungei Wang Plaza was the first shopping mall
in Bukit Bintang way back in 1978 , still going strong and is very popular
among local. There are easily 200 stores with wide range of products to offer.
Pavilion |
For those who likes to have a few drinks, Water holes
near Jalan P Ramlee, you can find The Beach club, Lola Lounge, Modesto’s, Aloha
Club, Rum Jungle, Padi House and many others… every night is party nite.

Recently, there is a new area call Ain Arabia, about
150 meters from the Bukit Bintang Monorail station, along Jalan Sultan Ismail (
after Mc Donalds), a side road
Jalan Berangan ( leads you to
Fortuna Hotel ), you will find a concrete arch with the word “AIN ARABIA”. Most tourists from the Middle East like to
visit here as the restaurants are
serving Arabian food, mini market,
souvenir shop are selling products that familiar to the them and thus make them
feel at home.
Jalan Alor 1 |
In the evening, looking for dinner, go straight to Jalan Alor ( unless you don’t
like hawker food ), the whole road is line up with hawker stalls along both
side of the road, tables and chairs were arranged on the road shoulder, lots of
people walking around and vehicles are difficult to get in.
Jalan Alor 2 |
Jalan Alor is relatively quiet during the day , only after 5pm, it become very lively, you will find a lot of tourists enjoying the local cuisine in the open air by the road side and from their expression…”they shall return”.
Jalan Alor 3 |
There are many public buses coming to Bukit Bintang,
as for tourists, use the Monorail and exit at the Bukit Bintang station, you
can hop on the GOKL city bus ( FREE shuttle bus service ), except the RED line,
the GREEN, PURPLE and the BLUE lines are
coming to Bukit Bintang. You may even take a slow walk ( 15 minutes ) from PUDU
SENTRAL LRT station.
